ALBANY – Two Hudson Valley agencies that provide mental health and addiction services will receive a total of some $5 million to aid them in the transformation to a business model of value-based payment, which rewards quality of care and better health outcomes, rather than the volume of services they provide.
Access Supports for Living will receive over $2.5 million and The Guidance Center of Westchester will receive $2.4 million.
“The transition of the behavioral health system to value-based payments is a monumental change for the providers who care for people with mental illness,” said Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther (D, Forestburgh), chairwoman of the Assembly Committee on Mental Health.
“There is no question that we have to come up with better solutions for our healthcare system,” said Senator George Amedore (R, Rotterdam). “As a state, we must continue to lead the way when it comes to mental health and addiction services. This funding is a step in the right direction to provide quality care for individuals with mental health conditions. It will strengthen our approach to behavioral health services by giving providers the tools necessary to efficiently treat patients and produce better outcomes.”
