MID-HUDSON – As everyone shovels out from Thursday’s snowstorm, they are reminded to keep fire hydrants and mailboxes cleared of ice and snow.
Keeping fire hydrants clear and visible is a public safety measure, fire officials note. Keeping them accessible for first responders could make the difference when fighting a fire.
Postal officials also ask that people clear sidewalks, walkways and approaches
to mailboxes so that letter carriers can provide safe and timely mail
delivery.
