KINGSTON – City Council President James Noble sees 2018 as the year Kingston will shine. He points to all signs indicating a strong economic resurgence for the state’s first capital.
Noble pointed to a more than $5 million fund balance, the $10 million state Downtown Revitalization Initiative grant, development “everywhere,” the purchase of a new fire truck, a proposed six hotels, and a plan for the former parking garage property all as positive signs.
“I have been on the council for 20 years and it is always you try and try and bring people in and you try to get them to invest and be interested,” he said, noting people like the area and see business opportunities and housing stock that is available. “I think it has finally happened. I think Brooklyn comes up here,”
Noble said the city is holding the line on spending with no property tax hike for the third year in a row.
