WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers man, who pled guilty to manslaughter in the 2016 beating death of his two-year-old son, was sentenced in Westchester County Court on Wednesday to 20 years in state prison.
On December 24, 2016 Blair Robinson, 33, brought his son, Alex Robinson, who was not breathing, into the emergency room of St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers. It was determined by autopsy that the child died from blunt force trauma to his head and torso.
When police spoke to Robinson on December 26, 2016, he admitted to police that he had kicked, whipped and beat the child in his head and torso earlier in the afternoon of December 24. Following the beating, he took a nap and then went to work for 90 minutes before returning home where he retrieved his son and brought him to the hospital.
The child’s mother, Kenya Reed, was sentenced to shock probation on September 28, 2017 after pleading guilty in August to endangering the welfare of a child.
