TOWN OF THOMPSON – Three teens were arrested by Sullivan County Sheriff’s deputies after they were linked to the theft of Christmas presents that were left overnight in a woman’s car parked in her driveway at 103 Cold Spring Road in the Town of Thompson.
Two of the teens in the December 12 larceny were later linked to a burglary
in September in a bungalow colony at 378 Cold Spring Road during which
an iPod was stolen.
Among the items stolen from the parked car was a Nintendo Ds XL game console.
Fragments of wrapping paper and packaging from the presents were observed thrown alongside the road near the residence. Investigation led detectives to arrest the three on December 16. Charged with misdemeanor larceny were Zachary Matthews, 18, John Schultz III, 18, and a 15-year-old, all residing on Southwoods Road in Thompson.
Matthews and Schultz were later charged in the bungalow break-in with felonies of grand larceny and burglary and the misdemeanor of petit larceny. Both of those men, who are on probation in Sullivan County, were released on their own recognizance pending a future court appearance.
The 15-year-old was released to his parents pending a future appearance in family court.
Sheriff Michael Schiff said the deputies “were relentless when it came to working this case.”
