STUYVESANT – A Stuyvesant man was arrested on Monday afternoon for allegedly physically and sexually assaulting a woman he knew, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Morgan Sheldon, 43, was arrested on a warrant and charged with several crimes including rape.
On December 3, a woman reported the assault, leading to a warrant search of Sheldon’s residence where investigators secured evidence.
After the incident, Sheldon fled the area, but was apprehended on Monday in the City of Albany.  He was charged with rape, criminal contempt, and unlawful imprisonment, all as felonies, as well as misdemeanors for assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon. He was sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office.
