Rosado and LaColla
FISHKILL – Secretary of State Rossana Rosado awarded the Town of Fishkill the Trailblazer award at her third annual Local Government Innovation Conference in Albany this week.
The Trailblazer Award recognizes a local government that is implementing innovative projects that might be perceived as too difficult by some and that will serve as a blueprint to others. The award cited the Town of Fishkill for consistent pursuit of service delivery innovation through regional partnerships and strategic analysis.
Fishkill has pursued opportunities to partner with neighboring municipalities on multiple fronts including recreational trail development, water and sewer consolidation, shared police services, and has been a leader in modernizing communications practices and enhancing civic engagement in local government. In addition, the Town of Fishkill is partnering with seven other Dutchess County local governments and the Department of State to create a resource tool that will produce complete, accurate and comparable information for highway department services and costs.
This tool will provide local officials across New York State with a financial planning tool to compare unit costs for the delivery of services.
“This award speaks to efforts of those in numerous State agencies, Dutchess County Government, the City of Beacon, Village of Fishkill, and many private and not-for-profit partners,” said Supervisor Bob LaColla. “On behalf of the Town administration, it is a privilege for us to work with so many good people focused on improving their communities. We thank the Secretary and her administration for this memorable recognition.”
