PEEKSKILL – Democratic City Councilman Andre Rainey defeated two-term Republican Peekskill Mayor Frank Catalina.
At 33, Rainey is the youngest mayor in the city’s history.
He told supporters Tuesday night that he is committed “to continue moving the city forward, building on the significant progress that Democrats began 10 years ago.” The new mayor said that Peekskill decided “that they liked the success that the Democratic majority has been able to achieve, but wanted a more positive and unified mayor who could make all residents proud and would build bridges, not walls.”
