Police release name of suspect in attempted convenience store robbery

TOWN OF WALLKILL – State Police have identified the suspect who
robbed the clerk at the Mobil on the Run convenience store on Dolson Avenue
in Middletown on Saturday as Scott Antoine Webb, 29, of Middletown.

The store clerk had reported to police that a man entered the store, pulled
a handgun and stole property from him.

Troopers quickly developed a description of the vehicle used by the suspect
and stopped it a short time later driving on Bigert Drive in New Hampton.

Webb was taken into custody and found in possession of a .38 caliber handgun
as well as proceeds from the robbery along with five ounces of marijuana
and prescription painkillers.

Webb was charged with armed robbery, criminal possession of a weapon,
criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of marijuana, criminal
possession of a controlled substance, and criminal possession of stolen
property.

He was remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail or $150,000
bond.

State Police were assisted by Middletown City Police and the Orange County
Sheriff’s Office.
