WHITE PLAINS – The City of
White Plains is expanding the number of vehicle charging stations to 30
shortly. The city currently has 20, but with a $26,400 state grant, another
10 will be added in three more parking garages.

Five years into the installation program, the city “is fast becoming
an electric vehicle model for others to follow,” said John Markowitz
of the New York Power Authority.

The 20 charging stations in use now have been used for 1,119 hours so far
this year.

In addition, 20 percent of the city’s vehicle fleet is electric and
as gas-powered vehicles in service reach the end of their useful life, they
will be replaced with electric models.
