Ambitious 2018 Sullivan County budget unveiled

County Manager Joshua Potosek unveiled his proposed 2018 budget
earlier today

MONTICELLO – The 2018 Sullivan County budget presented to the county
legislature on today includes a 2.3 percent increase in the tax levy and
stays within the state tax cap.

The spending plan includes funds to develop a pilot public transportation
system, two new positions for the district attorney’s office and
$28 million for the department of public works to repair infrastructure.

It also includes a municipal incentive program for “sprucing up”
and a municipal blight program to get rid of zombie properties.

The budget also targets a $15 minimum wage for all county workers by 2019.
