MS-13 gang member charged with stabbing two in Monroe

MONROE – A Self-proclaimed member of the MS-13 street gang has
been charged with stabbing two people with a knife in the Village of Monroe
just after midnight on Friday morning.

A police officer on patrol on North Main Street near the Mobil gas station
spotted four people covered in blood on the side of the road. They told
him one of them was a victim of a stabbing and that there was another
victim who was stabbed and was in serious condition at a residence at
430 North Main Street.

The officer radioed for backup and went to the residence where he found
a 21-year-old man covered in blood from stab wounds to his chest.

Monroe Ambulance was called to administer first aid.

Other officers responded including with a K-9 unit. The suspect, later
identified as Fredy’s Guitierrez-Zomora of Monroe, had fled into
a wooded area. He was tracked down and apprehended, charged with felony
assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He was remanded to the Orange
County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Investigation revealed Guitierrez-Zomora had gotten into an argument with
one of the victims and threatened him with a knife. He chased the victim
through the gas station parking lot and stabbed him in the chest with
a knife while yelling “MS-13.” As the victim’s friend
approached to help, the suspect slashed him with a knife and then fled
into the woods.
