TOWN OF HUNTER – Improvements have been completed at the North/South Lake Campground in the Town of Hunter, the state Department of Environmental Conservation announced. The improvements, supported by $150,000 in state funds, include upgrades to several buildings, roads and bathing areas throughout the campgrounds.
Half of the bathroom/shower buildings underwent tile replacement. The
campground’s lighting was upgraded to LED fixtures and a new accessible
boathouse was built at South Lake.  Along with that, 28 canoes, 27
kayaks and seven rowboats are available for rent and DEC has purchased
four new stand-up paddleboards.
“This heavily used park is an important economic contributor to our
region,” said Assemblyman Peter Lopez (R-Schoharie). He said the
upgrades will mean cost savings and increased tourism.
