Florida man facing drug charge in Carmel

CARMEL – A State of Florida man was arrested for drug possession in Carmel.
Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a verbal dispute at the BP Gas Station at 2 Fair Street.  While investigating at the scene, a deputy discovered that one of the participants, Michael Kopilak, 33, a Florida resident, was in possession of the prescription drug Suboxone, for which he did not have a valid prescription.
Kopilak was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. He was ordered held in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 bond. He could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
