The SeaChange crew aboard the Solar Sal in Hudson

HUDSON – SeaChange Voyage began its venture down the Hudson River, first from Troy, last Saturday. The fully-solar-powered boat, Solar Sal, docked in the City of Hudson on Monday and will make its down south with its last stop at Newburgh.
The journey is billed as an arts-activism voyage with live music, street theater and speakers focusing on the need to protect the climate and water.
Spokesman Kevin Buckland said they are sending out the message that the Hudson River is in danger of severe pollution.
“To make the connect that the oil that people were resisting at Standing Rock is the same oil that flows up and down the Hudson River and comes from the Bakken fracked oil fields,” he said.
Buckland said the SeaChange activists are also concerned about the proposed commercial anchorages on the Hudson. Those have been put on hold pending a ports and river assessment by the US Coast Guard.
