HUDSON – A woman wanted in a Maryland bank robbery was arrested in Columbia County and when Christi Diane Slade, 44, was questioned, she made admissions to that robbery as well as another bank heist in Georgia.
Slade was taken into custody by Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies and charged with being a fugitive from justice.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office was contacted initially on June 22 concerning the Maryland bank robbery by Washington County Sheriff’s officials believing she may have either visited or would visit an inmate in the Columbia County Jail.
Slade was apprehended that day without incident while at the Columbia County Public Safety Facility. Police also located a vehicle that is believed to have been used in the Maryland robbery. It was impounded on behalf of the Maryland authorities.
On June 26, detectives from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office traveled to Columbia County, executed a search warrant on her vehicle and found proceeds from the robbery.
An arrest warrant was also issued by the Banks County Georgia Sheriff’s Office for the bank robbery there.
Slade was being held in the Columbia County Jail without bail pending extradition.
