HIGHLAND – April traffic
on four of the five Mid-Hudson Valley bridges operated by the New York
State Bridge Authority was up over the same month last year, according
to the latest statistics from the agency.
The Rip Van Winkle Bridge traffic rose by over 4.3 percent, the Newburgh-Beacon
Bridge rose by just under 1.9 percent, and both the Kingston-Rhinecliff
and Bear Mountain bridges saw traffic increase by 1.2 percent. Traffic
on the Mid-Hudson Bridge dropped by 0.71 percent.
Over all, traffic rose a total of 1.3 percent system-wide.
On the revenue side in April the Rip Van Winkle Bridge had the greatest
increase at 3.2 percent. The Bear Mountain and Kingston-Rhinecliff bridges
each increased revenue by just over 0.50 percent while the Mid-Hudson
and Newburgh-Beacon bridges saw revenue decline by over 0.2 percent each.
Year to date, traffic fell 1.3 percent system-wide while revenue declined
by 1.9 percent.
