Bostick

GOSHEN – The man who shot and wounded Montgomery Town and Maybrook
Village Police Chief Arnold Amthor on Tuesday took his own life, according
to a source close to the investigation.

Anthony Bostick, 28, who shot Amthor in the left shoulder, was found dead
in the Abbey Lane residence in Maybrook where police went in the morning
for a report of a domestic dispute between Bostick and his girlfriend.

When they got there, Bostick pulled a gun and shot the chief, who was
rushed to St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh for treatment.

Officers fired back and an hours-long standoff took place. SWAT teams
and police agencies from several area municipalities converged on the
scene and around 3 p.m., Bostick was found dead.
On Tuesday it was unclear how he died with speculation that he was shot
by a police officer.

But, on Wednesday, a source told Mid-Hudson News that he had taken his
own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Bostick was a convicted felon having served five years in prison on an
attempted burglary charge and had an open case in Goshen for illegal possession
of a weapon, a telescopic baton.
