TOWN OF SOUTHEAST – Metro-North Railroad will rebuild and reopen the Prospect Hill Road Bridge in the Town of Southeast at a cost of $9.5 million in funds from the MTA’s 2015-2019 capital program.
The 270-foot-long structure, which was built in 1910, is just south of the railroad station carrying Prospect Hill Road over the Harlem Line tracks and part of the railroad’s Brewster yard.
The bridge is currently closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic and has been deemed beyond the point of repair.

Before construction can begin on the new bridge, the old structure must be demolished and removed. The MTA did not provide a timetable for construction of the new bridge.
“Replacing the former decades-old ‘rickety bridge’ with a state-of-the-art bridge will restore a valuable piece of infrastructure within our community,” said Southeast Town Supervisor Tony Hay.
