CARMEL – Twenty-eight-year-old Dario Wagman has some explaining to do when appearing next month in Carmel Town Court.

The Mahopac man was arrested by Carmel Police this week after leading patrols on a pursuit through the Mahopac Village Center in addition to several neighborhoods.

Police attempted to stop the cyclist who was allegedly driving recklessly around 10 p.m. when an officer observed the two-wheeler with a covered license plate.

Lt. Michael Bodo said the cyclist failed to stop and sped off along Route 6 with the officer following and watching the driver allegedly commit several traffic infractions.

The chase continued and eventually ended when the bike malfunctioned and became inoperable, allowing officers to finally take the driver into custody.

Wagman was charged with several counts of reckless driving in addition to being cited with 60 traffic tickets for misdemeanors and violations of state motor vehicle law that could result in thousands of dollars of fines and suspension or revocation of his driver’s license.
