Big pot bust in Sullivan County

THOMPSON – An executed search warrant at 70 Hill Top Road in the Town
of Thompson resulted in the discovery of a major marijuana growing operation
with two suspects tending to the plants, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s
Office reported..
Arrested at the scene were Junior Jose Duran, 43, of Philadelphia, PA
and Jose Alberto Gomez DeLeon, 56, of New York City.
The men were found to be in possession of approximately 108 pounds of
marijuana with a street value of about $432,000.
Duran and DeLeon were both charged with felony criminal possession of
marijuana, and unlawfully growing cannabis, a misdemeanor. They were arraigned
and sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $35,000 bail, pending
an April 3 court appearance.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by U.S. Homeland Security Investigations
and Town of Bethel Constables. The search warrant was prepared by the
Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office.
