NEW WINDSOR – November
will mark the 10th year since the Port Authority took over operation of
Stewart Airport and the word “international” will truly fit
the bill now that Norwegian Air is going to begin flying non-stops to
Europe this summer.
The airline announced its initial schedule this morning. Flights to Edinburgh,
Scotland will begin on June 15 while flights to Dublin and Shannon, Ireland
and Belfast, Northern Ireland all ill start on July 1.
Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress President Jonathan Drapkin said the new service will be a significant milestone.
“It is positive for the region; it is positive for the airport. It is one of the many things that argue in favor for the investment of the capital dollars that so many of us were supporting for Stewart and we couldn’t be happier,” Drapkin said.
The new service will open up Europe to the Hudson Valley traveler and bring overseas visitors to this region.
