Kondon

GOSHEN – A Poughkeepsie man, who was standing trial in Orange County
Court, failed to appear in court on Friday, February 17.

The trial continued and Kodjo Kondon, 30, was convicted before County
Court Judge Craig Stephen Brown on Tuesday, February 21 of two counts
of criminal possession of a forged instrument and resisting arrest.

On July 18, 2016, Kondon attempted to secure a loan at the Hudson Valley
Federal Credit Union in the Town of New Windsor. He was using an assumed
name and a forged South Carolina driver’s license.

When New Windsor Police were summoned, Kondon struck a police sergeant
and fled. He was apprehended nearby and was found to be in possession
of a forged Illinois driver’s license as well, in yet another false
name.

Kondon was convicted after a jury trial which began on February 14.

District Attorney David Hoovler’s Office is seeking the public’s
help in locating Kondon.

He faces up to seven to 14 years in state prison when sentenced. Judge
Brown is scheduled to sentence him on April 4 and said he is included
to impose sentence even if Kondon is not present.
