HYDE PARK – A Wappingers Falls man, who is in the Orange County Jail for his involvement in a bank robbery at the Hudson Heritage Federal Credit Union branch in the City of Newburgh on August 24, 2015, has now been charged with being involved in three Dutchess County bank robberies.
Hyde Park Police said Monday that the charges against Joshua Jamel Dejesus, 28, were filed as part of an overall plea agreement reached in Orange County Court.
Dejesus was charged by Hyde Park Police for a robbery at the TD Bank branch at 4240 Albany Post Road on June 5, 2015. He was also charged by Poughkeepsie Town Police with the robbery of the TD Bank branch in the Hudson Plaza on Route 9 in April 24, 2015 and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office charged him with robbing the Key Bank branch in the Village of Fishkill on May 7, 2015.
Dejesus was brought to Hyde Park Town Court where he was arraigned on all three robberies as felonies. All three cases were waived to the grand jury, with bail set on each count at $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. He was then transported back to the Orange County Jail.
The investigation was a coordinated effort by law enforcement agencies in the cities of Newburgh, Beacon and Poughkeepsie, towns of Hyde Park, Poughkeepsie and Fishkill, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, State Police Major Crimes Unit, the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, and district attorney’s offices in Orange and Dutchess counties.
