KINGSTON – City of Kingston officials want to know exactly what streets, sidewalks and buildings are not handicap accessible and they want the public’s help in identifying them.
Mayor Steven Noble is creating a committee to coordinate the effort to conform to the Americans with Disabilities Act.
“We are going to be building our own database of where issues are
in the city and we are going to be asking the public’s help in identifying
those areas and barriers to accessibility and then we will be able to
make sure we have a coordinated effort to fix them,” the mayor said.
Noble acknowledged that it is not going to be resolved overnight, but the city will address the issues in time.
