AG to hold gun buyback event in Kingston

KINGSTON – Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. State Attorney General Tish James and the Kingston City Police Department will hold a gun buyback event at the Andy Murphy Midtown Neighborhood Center.

The event is part of James’ effort to help protect New York communities from gun violence and to keep families safe.

Working and non-working firearms will be exchanged for compensation on site with no questions asked.

Anyone turning in an assault rifle will receive $500. A turned in handgun will mean $250 for the individual. A rifle or shotgun will mean $75 per weapon to the person turning them in.

A total of $25 will be given for non-working, replica, antique, homemade or 3D printed guns.
