GOSHEN – Wappingers Falls resident Joshua De Jesus pled guilty
in Orange County Court on Tuesday to the armed robbery of the Hudson Heritage
Federal Credit Union in the City of Newburgh on August 24, 2015.
As part of the plea agreement made in Judge Robert Freehill’s
courtroom on Tuesday, De Jesus will receive 18 years in state prison,
said District Attorney David Hoovler.

On the morning of August 24, 2015, De Jesus along with another unidentified
man, waited outside the bank on Corwin Court in Newburgh until the first
two employees showed up to open the building.

De Jesus and his accomplice pulled a gun and knife and ordered the workers
inside. De Jesus went to the vault where he took approximately $225,000
in cash.

The two men left the bank and jumped into a car driven by a third man.

Following an extensive investigation, De Jesus was apprehended by Newburgh
and Town of Fishkill Police on December 17, 2017.

Town of Fishkill Police were investigating other bank robbers that occurred
in Dutchess County. De Jesus will serve his Orange County sentence concurrently
with any Dutchess County robbery convictions.

Participating in the investigation were City of Newburgh Police, the FBI,
Town of Fishkill, Hyde Park, and Poughkeepsie police, along with the Dutchess
County Sheriff’s and District attorneys’ offices.
