Woman charged with stealing pocketbooks from Wal-mart shoppers

TOWN OF ULSTER – A 49-year-old
Saugerties woman has been arrested by Ulster Town Police for allegedly
stealing pocketbooks from three women’s shopping carts while inside
the Wal-mart store.

Judith Bell was arrested on Saturday, January 8 following an investigation
into the thefts of the personal property. Police said the pocketbooks
were stolen while the customers’ attention was diverted.

Bell was charged with five counts of felony grand larceny and three misdemeanor
counts of petit larceny.

She was arraigned and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $1,500
cash bail or $2,000 bond.

The Ulster Police Department was assisted in the investigation by Wal-mart
Asset Protection.
