WOODSTOCK – Following the death of Woodstock Town Supervisor Jeremy Wilber last week, the town board on Tuesday named Councilman William McKenna supervisor for the year.
This was the second year of Wilber’s two-year term, so if McKenna chooses to run for the top post in the fall – which he said he is inclined to do – he would be seeking a full term.
McKenna said Wilber was an excellent mentor to him as far as keeping a close watch on town finances.
“He spent a lot of time drilling that into my head,” McKenna said. “I would never say that I am fluent in it as he was, but certainly he gave me a wonderful education and I hope to continue that. He always believed that with proper funding, nothing was impossible.”
A memorial service for Wilber will be held at noon on Sunday, January 8 at the Bearsville Theater.
