Peloso

GOSHEN – A Campbell Hall man was convicted after a bench trial before Orange County Court Judge Robert Freehill on Monday. Christopher Peloso, 29, was found guilty of attempted aggravated assault on a police officer or a peace officer, four counts of assault, four counts of reckless endangerment, three counts of criminal mischief, two counts of operating a motor vehicle, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an incident without reporting, and resisting arrest.
Peloso faces up to 20 years in state prison on the attempted aggravated assault on a police officer charge when sentenced in January.
Prosecutors argued that on December 21, 2014 at about 1 a.m., Peloso was driving a modified pickup truck when he led police on a high speed chase after officers tried to pull him over for a traffic infraction. The chase ended on Route 747 after Peloso intentionally rammed three police cars and continued to try to escape apprehension. During the chase, Peloso’s truck struck a civilian vehicle injuring two people. Two police officers were injured in the incident. One Newburgh police officer suffered injuries that ended his career as an officer.
A chemical test of Peloso’s breath revealed he had .08 percent alcohol blood content.
