MONTICELLO – Sullivan County’s rugged terrain makes 100 percent
emergency radio coverage cost-prohibitive, if not impossible, but the
county is getting close.
Alex Rau, the county’s E911 coordinator, said they are well along
in testing significant upgrades put into place over the past year.

“The coverage that we’re seeing in the new system in preliminary
testing is far superior to what we’ve had for the last 30 years,”
Rau told the county legislature’s Public Safety Committee.
One big enhancement is 100 percent coverage up the county’s entire
Delaware River corridor from the Orange County line to Delaware County.
