NEW PALTZ – The SUNY New Paltz Police Department and the college’s new Department of Emergency Management want to upgrade and improve the campus-wide policy on lockdowns and lockdown drills.
To that end, the two departments will form a committee tasked with those goals, said Police Chief David Dugatkin.
“There are many exits and entries and we want to be able to have a very comprehensive plan so that in the need of an extreme emergency, we can safely lockdown all aspects of the campus and keep everybody safe,” Dugatkin said.
The college will hold a meeting on November 10 for all students, faculty and staff to express their views on the subject given that New Paltz is an open college campus.
