Seven arrested at Spectra Algonquin Pipeline worksite

CORTLANDT – Seven protestors were arrested at the Spectra Algonquin
Pipeline site in Cortlandt on Monday.

Three protestors were initially arrested by State Police for unlawfully
entering the perimeter of the construction site after they climbed a security
fence. Charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass were Judith Canepa,
73, of New York City, Kim Fraczek, 41, of Brooklyn, and Judith Allen,
71, of Putnam Valley.

Four other protestors were arrested when they unlawfully entered the construction
site and remained in a 1,000-foot section of uninstalled pipe.

They refused to leave until about 11:45 p.m. when police negotiated with
the group’s leader. Janet Gonzalez, 49, of Yonkers, David Publow,
49, of Troy, Mackenzie McDonald-Wilkins, 27, of Rhinebeck; and Rebecca
Berlin, 23, of Yorktown Heights, were charged with criminal trespass.

All seven were issued appearance tickets returnable to town court at a
later date.
