HIGHLAND – The mild winter
early this year, hot summer and lower gas prices have all contributed
to increased traffic and revenues on all five bridges over the Hudson
River operated by the New York State Bridge Authority.

For the period of January to August, the Bear Mountain Bridge continued
to experience the highest gains with an 8.7 percent increase in traffic
and 10.1 percent increase in revenue.

The Newburgh-Beacon Bridge, the busiest of all five crossings, saw a 6.7
percent increase in traffic and 5.8 percent gain in revenue.

The Rip Van Winkle Bridge followed with 4.3 percent increase in traffic
and 3.7 percent gain in revenue.

The Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge saw a traffic increase of over 3.8 percent
over the eight months and a revenue boost of 3.7 percent.

The Mid-Hudson Bridge saw a more than 3.2 percent increase in traffic
and 3.4 percent increase in revenue.
