CROTON – A USMA member of the Class of 2019 was killed Sunday in a one-car crash on Route 9 in Croton.
Officials said Cadet Brandon Jackson of Queens was a starting defensive back on the Army football team at West Point. He had played in Saturday’s season-opening game, which Army won, with two solo tackles and one assist.
“We are heartbroken for Brandon’s family, the team and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him,” said West Point Athletic Director Boo Corrigan.
Commandant of Cadets Brig. Gen. Diana Holland called Jackson “a proud and committed member of Echo Company, 2nd Regiment.”
West Point Superintendent Lt. Gen. Robert Caslen, Jr. said the US Military
Academy will “honor his life as we mourn the untimely death of a
young man who had a promising future as a leader in service to our nation.
Brandon internalized our watch words, Duty, Honor, Country.”
The cause of the accident that claimed Jackson’s life remains under investigation.
