TOWN OF WALLKILL – An off-duty emergency medical technician saved a man who suffered cardiac arrest and crashed his vehicle into a sign and unoccupied vehicle parked at a bakery at 415 East Main Street in the Town of Wallkill.
Town Police Chief Robert Hertman said witnesses told investigators that James Murphy, 70, of Wallkill, crashed Monday afternoon while driving.
He was found by Kevin Torres, an off-duty EMT, who administered CPR. Murphy was transported to Orange Regional Medical Center by Town of Wallkill Volunteer Ambulance Corps with the assistance of the Mechanicstown Fire Department.
Murphy was later reported in stable condition at the hospital.
