TOWN OF WALLKILL – Police are investigating the death of a one-year-old
child who was struck by a vehicle on Highland Avenue Extension near the
Middletown city line today (Monday).
Wallkill Police Chief Robert Hertman said the incident remains under investigation.
Initial police radio reports indicated a child, who had been struck, was
being transported to Orange Regional Medical Center in a private car.
Local emergency services personnel were flagged down on Route 211 near
Wal-mart and the child was transported by them to the hospital where it
was pronounced dead.
State Police are assisting in the investigation.
