Fifteen charged in federal narcotics indictment

MIDDLETOWN – A federal indictment unsealed on Wednesday resulted in the arrests of 13 men and women on charges that they were part of a drug distribution network that peddled large amounts of powder and crack cocaine in and around Orange County. Two others remain at large.
The FBI, Middletown City Police, Orange County Sheriff’s Office and State Police investigated the case as part of the Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force.
Charged with narcotics conspiracy are Juan Beniquez, also known as “Johnny,” Derek Degroat, Anthony Fields, also known as “Tone,” Denis Flores-Jacobson, Alan King, also known as “Killa Grip,” Lieunigel Lewis, also known as “Gucci Louie,” Durann Rollins, also known as “Dee,” Linda Williams, Oscar Boria, Jr., Elijah Cabrera, Willis Caldwell, also known as “Fatts,” Anthony Crum, Collye Goodman, also known as “West,” and Damon Wheeler, also known as “Ross.”
Beniquez was also charged with possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense.
“The residents of Orange County are entitled to live and work free from the ills of narcotics trafficking,” said US Attorney Preet Bharara. This latest effort by police “brings us closer to that goal.”
