POUGHKEEPSIE – The Veterans Affairs Committee of the Dutchess County Legislature approved a resolution on Thursday to restructure and update its mission.
The committee has been charged with advising lawmakers on legislative matters of interest to local vets. The new structure, once approved by the full legislature, would allow it to also advise the county executive on veterans’ affairs and serve as a support unit to the county’s Division of Veterans Services.
“As a combat veteran, being appointed to the Veterans Affairs Committee upon taking office earlier this year was especially meaningful to me,” said County Legislature Marc Coviello. “I know that this is a committee that can make a real impact in our community, and I am pleased that we are moving forward with this resolution, which I believe will give us the tools we need to make a difference.”
