Poughkeepsie PD arrest three, confiscate three illegal firearms

POUGHKEEPSIE – Thee men were arrested in Poughkeepsie late Sunday
afternoon on charges that they were in a stolen vehicle and that they
possessed illegal firearms and ammunition.

An alert city officer spotted the vehicle that was reported stolen in
the area of North White and Main streets around 5 p.m. Other officers
responded and obtained the men when they parked the car in the area of
Mansion Street and Winnikee Avenue.

Seized were a .40 caliber rifle with a pistol grip and a magazine with
11 rounds of ammunition; a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun, loaded with a
magazine containing six rounds of ammo; and another 9 mm semi-automatic
handgun loaded with a magazine containing several rounds of ammo.

Arrested were Curtis Holland, Jr., 24; Marcus Figueroa, 27; and Anthony
Beckford, 22, all of the City of Poughkeepsie. All three were charged
with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of criminal
possession of a firearm, all as felonies.

Holland was also charged with felony grand larceny, unauthorized use of
a motor vehicle and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle as misdemeanors.

Beckford was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance
as a felony and possession f drug paraphernalia.
