Man charged with trying to burn down house during domestic dispute

KINGSTON – A 22-year-old Rosendale man is in the Ulster County Jail
in lieu of bail after he allegedly tried to burn down his residence.

The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office said at 4:32 p.m. on Wednesday,
John Arceri had allegedly poured a combustible liquid inside the home
and threw a pot of combustible liquid through a TV screen. Police said
his intended ignition source was located inside the home in close proximity
to the combustible liquid.

Arceri was arraigned on charges of attempted arson as a felony and criminal
mischief as a misdemeanor and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu
of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.

Detectives were assisted at the scene by the Ulster County Sheriff’s
Office Patrol Division, the Rosendale Police and the Ulster County Arson
Task Force.
