KINGSTON – Food pantries in the greater Kingston area got a boost
this week as the People’s Place organization opened its new “food
hub” to provide more storage capacity.
The initiative “demonstrates the very best of what our not-for-profit partners can do when they work together,” said Mayor Steven Noble.
“People’s Place, working with Family of Woodstock, with a grant from the Local Economies Project, went ahead and was able to put cold storage in the basement of their building for almost six food partners in the Kingston area so they can store produce, both refrigerated as well as freezer items so that when the need was there, they could be met,” Noble said.
The new food hub is “another step towards providing healthy food options to our neighbors in need in our community,” said People’s Place Executive Director Christine Hein.
