Junior ROTC salute as they
place flags at every grave

GOSHEN – Dozens of Minisink Valley High School students, members of the Army Junior ROTC, placed American flags at every grave at the Orange County Veterans’ Cemetery in Goshen on Tuesday, to pay tribute to those men and women leading up to this coming Memorial Day weekend.
The students, young men and women in uniform, saluted as they recited
the deceased’ name and military service.
The annual exercise is a good experience for the cadets, said their leader, Lt. Col. John Brooks. It had even more meaning for two of the cadets.
“We actually had a couple of cadets here that their grandfather is buried here so it really hits home especially to two of our cadets here today,” Brooks said.
The Minisink cadets place flags at the 3,000 veterans’ graves every Veterans’ Day and Memorial Day.
