MIAMI BEACH – Five Hasidic men, who were among a group visiting
in Miami Beach, Florida, were pulled into the ocean by a riptide before
noon on Tuesday. Two died; the other three were rescued.
One of the victims was Chaim Parnes, a resident of the Village of Kiryas Joel. The other man was identified as Yitzhok Rosenberg, president of Congregation Yetev Lev in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Two of the men who survived are also residents of Kiryas Joel.
Parnes was a diamond dealer, who was robbed of $35,000 in gems, pistol
whipped and had his tires slashed while visiting North Miami in November
2015.
Rosenberg owned a lumber company and was a property owner in Williamsburg.
