KINGSTON – An Ulster County man will spend 18 years in state prison followed by 20 years of post-release supervision following his guilty plea to a violent felony offense of course of sexual conduct against a child.
Ulster County Court Judge Donald Williams called Alan Edwards, 62, “a sexual deviant.”
Edwards admitted that he had engaged in several acts of sexual conduct with a child under the age of 11. All of the acts occurred at his home. The plea was in satisfaction of additional charges involving another incident of sexual abuse with another child under the age of 11, also at his home.
A letter from the family of the victim read at sentencing detailed how years of trust built with the victim and the victim’s family was shattered by Edwards’ “despicable conduct.”
