KINGSTON – The Ulster County Legislature is seeking applications from individuals interested in serving on the Board of Directors of the county’s Industrial Development Agency.
The IDA provides economic incentives, including property tax exemption and payments in lieu of taxes, to businesses seeking to develop or expand in the county and provide jobs.
The deadline for applications is May 2.
“Our current (IDA) Board has been very diligent in reviewing projects,” said County Legislator James Maloney, chairman of the Economic Development, Tourism, Housing, Planning and Transit Committee. “It is essential that we have individuals on the IDA who understand the intricacies of economic development and how to encourage business growth.”
County Legislator Hector Rodrigues, vice chairman of the economic development committee, said it is “important that the IDA Board is representative of all the communities throughout Ulster County,” therefore they want to “cast a wide net and reach out to ensure we have the best and the brightest on this vital board.”
Applicants may send a letter of interest and resume to mbei@co.ulster.ny.us or mail it to County Legislator James Maloney, PO Box 1800, Kingston, NY 12402.
