NEW PALTZ – The state Health Department has granted approval for Health Alliance, Inc. and Woodland Pond at New Paltz to separate their corporate entity.
The Health Alliance operates the Mary’s Avenue and Broadway campuses of their hospitals in Kingston while Woodland Pond will continue to operate its independent living private residences – 24 cottages and 177 apartments – for those 62 and older.
The two entities announced the plan to separate the two in January.
“This is a great day for Woodland Pond,” said Health Alliance President David Scarpino. “Rather than just a separation, we see this move as a celebration of Woodland Pond’s coming of age and its passage to total self-sufficiency.”
Michelle Gramoglia, Woodland Pond’s former executive director, now president, said they are “excited to move forward with our vision to improve and expand the services available to seniors in the Mid-Hudson Valley.”
