Lies: “… let people celebrate
Sullivan County”

MONTICELLO – Most of the attention so far has been on the Montreign Resort Casino going up in Kiamesha Lake, but that is one component of the bigger project, Adelaar, a four-season resort that will include hotels, golf courses and a waterpark.
Tim Lies, project manager for EPR Properties, the top-level company that will operate Adelaar, told Sullivan County legislators on Thursday that they are well underway with infrastructure work.
“We’re probably about 40 percent finished with phase one, maybe a little more with phase one and phase two, we’ll finish the road all the way past the golf course.”
Lies said they are spending close to $100 million just on the infrastructure.
EPR is not new to the game.  Among their other projects is the large Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark, a family-oriented destination which opened at Camelback in the Poconos last spring.
Lies said Adelaar will be “a bit more sophisticated.”
The ultimate goal is to be a gateway to the Sullivan County Catskills.
“That’s our goal, is to really let people celebrate Sullivan County, celebrate what’s going on and this is the starting part.”
Lies had high praise for the vision of Empire Resorts, which conceived the resort casino and in December, was awarded the only license for the Catskill/Hudson Valley region.
