State corrections officer assaulted at Ulster prison

WAWARSING – A prisoner at the state’s Ulster Correctional
Facility in the Town of Wawarsing has been arrested and charged with assaulting
a corrections officer.
State Police said on January 28, the officer was attempting to enforce
the rules of the facility when he was assaulted by inmate Damar Taylor
who struck him several times in the face with a closed fist resulting
in substantial injury to the officer.

Taylor, 38, was charged with felony assault and will appear in town court
at a later date.

According to the state prison’s website, Taylor was returned to
prison in January for a parole violation on a previous conviction for
felony drug sales.
