Hamlet of Wallkill man sentenced in welfare fraud case

KINGSTON – A 44-year-old Wallkill man was sentenced in Ulster County
Court on Tuesday to four months of intermittent jail and five years of
probation, plus restitution, for his conviction of felony welfare fraud.

For two years, Tony Wallace illegally obtained benefits in the amount
of $60,647 from the Ulster County Department of Social Services by failing
to report income being earned by him.

His thefts were discovered by the Special Investigations Unit in the Ulster
County Department of Social Services.

Wallace was also disqualified from receiving social services benefits
for one year.
